Planting Services in Innisfil, ON

We plant flowers, shrubs, and trees so they actually thrive - not just survive the first season.

Why planting isn't just digging a hole

You can buy the nicest plants at the nursery and watch them struggle if they're planted wrong. Soil prep matters. Depth matters. Spacing matters. We've seen expensive shrubs choke out because someone planted them six inches too deep, or perennials that never came back because the roots sat in clay all winter.

We test your soil before we plant anything. If it's compacted or lacks nutrients, we amend it. If drainage is terrible, we fix that first or choose plants that can handle wet feet. Every plant goes in at the right depth, with the root ball properly loosened, and mulched to the correct level. It's not complicated, but it's easy to skip steps when you're in a hurry.

Whether you want a pollinator garden, a privacy hedge, or just some colour around your front steps, we match plants to your site conditions. Sun exposure, moisture levels, winter hardiness - all of it gets factored in before we dig the first hole.

What we plant and how we do it

We install perennials, annuals, shrubs, ornamental trees, and native plants. If you're doing a full Landscape Installation, we coordinate planting with hardscaping so everything goes in at the right stage. If you just need a garden bed refreshed or a bare spot filled in, we handle that too.

Timing matters more than most people think. Spring and fall are ideal for most plantings, but some species do better in one season over the other. We'll tell you if your wishlist needs to wait a few months, or if we can get it done now with extra care. Planting a tree in July isn't impossible, but it requires more watering and babysitting than planting it in October.

We source plants locally when possible, and we're honest about what will actually work in Innisfil's climate. If you want something that's borderline hardy here, we'll tell you the risk upfront. No surprises when it doesn't make it through February.

Planting across Innisfil and nearby areas

We work all over Innisfil, and we're regularly in Barrie and Alcona as well. Soil conditions vary a lot even within a few kilometers. Sandy soil near the lakeshore drains fast and needs different plants than the heavier clay we see inland. We adjust our approach based on where your property sits.

If you've got an Irrigation System Services setup or you're planning one, we coordinate planting zones with your watering layout. No point installing drought-tolerant natives right next to thirsty hydrangeas if they're on the same zone. We think through how the whole system works together.

Keeping new plants alive after we leave

New plantings need consistent water for the first few weeks, sometimes longer depending on weather and plant type. We give you a watering schedule before we leave, and we're clear about what 'consistent' actually means. It's not complicated, but it's easy to underwater in hot stretches or overwater if it's been raining.

If you don't want to deal with the watering yourself, our Landscape Maintenance plans include establishment care for new plantings. We come back on a schedule, check moisture levels, and adjust as needed. Once everything's rooted in and established, the hand-holding stops and you're off to the races.

We also handle mulching, edging, and any staking or support that trees and tall perennials need while they settle. If something doesn't make it despite proper care, we talk through what happened and whether it's worth replanting or trying a different species.

Getting a planting plan started

We start with a site visit. We look at sun patterns, soil, drainage, and what's already growing (or not growing). If you've got a vision, we work with that. If you just know you want 'something that looks good and doesn't die,' we build a plan from scratch.

Pricing depends on plant size, quantity, and how much site prep is needed. A flat of annuals for your front bed is straightforward. A hedge of six-foot cedars with soil amendment and irrigation tie-in is a bigger job. We give you a clear quote before anything goes in the ground, and if your budget doesn't cover everything at once, we can phase it over a couple seasons. Call us or send a message - we'll get you on the schedule.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best time of year to plant shrubs and trees?

Fall is usually best - cooler temps, more rain, and roots have time to establish before winter. Spring works too, especially for anything borderline hardy. Summer planting is possible but needs way more watering and attention. We'll recommend timing based on what you're planting and what your schedule allows.

Do you guarantee plants will survive?

We guarantee proper installation - right depth, good soil prep, correct spacing. Plant survival depends on aftercare, weather, and sometimes just bad luck. If you're on one of our maintenance plans and we're handling the watering, we'll replace anything that fails in the first season as long as it wasn't damaged by animals, mowers, or freak weather events.

Can you work with plants I've already bought?

Yeah, we can install plants you've sourced yourself. Just know we can't guarantee their health if they've been sitting in your driveway for two weeks or if they're not suited to your site. We'd rather be honest upfront than plant something we know won't make it and have you call us frustrated in six months.
